Phew this will be the last wedding blog until September as Chris and Alissa wrapped up the busiest season of my business! Weddings every weekend (except one!) since the end of April and it was such a sweet one to wrap up with!! Chris and Alissa were married at Marina Shores in Virginia Beach, a venue tucked back on a marina that is actually closing the end of this season!!

Chris is a recent ECU grad who is actually off in school for the Army now and so the day after his wedding he flew back to school while Alissa will finish her under graduate degree at ECU! The next year will not be your typical first year of marriage for these two but it’s easy to see with the support system they have they will breeze through it and be in the same zip code in no time.

We started the day at a nearby hotel so Alissa and her bridesmaids could have hair and makeup done overlooking the beach and it was GORGEOUS. Planning a wedding outdoors in July is a total risk in Virginia, let alone Virginia Beach near the ocean but it was such a beautiful day with cooler temps and a great breeze! Alissa’s love of mermaids and the beach were sprinkled all through out her day, from the invitations to the “sea glass” favors, the wedding cake topper to the detail on her dress. Speaking of can we talk about this dress?! I’ve seen a trend this year with my brides who are opting for mermaid gowns and I don’t hate it! LOVE the extra volume and detailing at the bottom of these dresses!!

I always love seeing so many of my favorite vendors in one room too!! Jamie Leigh and her team made the day flow so smoothly while Danny from Astro kept the dance floor PACKED, exactly how a wedding reception should be!!
