Over Labor Day weekend I flew out to see my sister and her husband who live just outside Denver in Aurora! While I am a salty soul through and through, it was nice to see land that wasn’t so…..flat 😉
My dad flew out too and while we were planning on surprising her, we nearly missed our connection so totally blew the surprise with him having to catch the next flight. Woops!!
We headed from the airport right to a brewery and while I am not a beer drinker at all, I wanted to “be open minded” and so I had a few. We headed to Ft. Collins for dinner in Old Town and I tried a Moscow Mule, much more up my alley. We got caught in a rain storm but it moved quickly over the mountains and left us with the most gorgeous light so I forced my sister Kristen out into the street quickly.
The next morning we were up SO early and drove 3 hours away to hike Hanging Lake. We started on a smaller trail and then found a parking spot at Hanging Lake. This hike was NO JOKE. We went about a mile up and my lungs were screaming with that little oxygen! But man the sight was so worth it!
Sunday, we brunched at Root in downtown and it was delicious! Seriously the best brunch I’ve had. We strolled around the city just taking our time. I hadn’t really realized how huge Denver was and what such a commercial hub it was!! I love the infrastructure, the old and new blended together to really create a gorgeous city scape.
Monday we headed to a Rockies game and then back into the city that night so I could shoot their anniversary session, that’s the next post so make sure to come back!
Tuesday we had to leave and ran out to Red Rocks before heading to the airport.
