Margaret and Dana were married on memorial day weekend at Elkington Events on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Their wedding was planned to be an open-air event under the beautiful trees of the property but when it was clear the day would be VERY wet, they added a tent that enabled everyone to stay inside and the day to continue.
The girls were getting ready at a beautiful home in Cape Charles and right as I showed up the sky fell out. It was SO dark outside and the temperature had gone from 85 and humid to 65 and chilly QUICK! Luckily the girls were all relaxed and just so excited to get the show on the road. We were able to take advantage of the porch at the house for a few photos before heading to the venue.
I think I must have said the word PIVOT in my mind about 30 times this wedding day! THANKFULLY Margaret and Dana are two of the most relaxed people I have ever photographed and were fine to go with the flow when we kept moving portrait time to what appeared to be clear pockets on the radar. While the temperatures never did come back up, the rain did stop long enough to have an outdoor ceremony under the trees overlooking the water, complete with furry ring bearers Quincy and Beck, and us to snag more outdoor portraits.
Klaxton Brown band kept the dance floor going with all their throwback jams and no one really cared about the cold! Margaret and Dana enjoy your six-week honeymoon traveling the US this summer!
