I could really go on and on about Heather and Jerry. I feel like we have known each other forever and that made it even more exciting to spend their special day with them. A little over a year ago I captured their proposal so I was thrilled when Heather contacted me about capturing their day! Knowing I was getting to work with my great friend Leigh and see my favorite hair and makeup girl Jess, I couldn’t wait for this day!!
The wedding was at Jerry’s parents country home in Hayes VA and driving out me and Leigh thought it was so so pretty!! We kept checking the radar and had a feeling the rain was going to make an appearance. The plan was to get married under the arbor Jerry built but after a rain delay and another radar check, the ceremony was moved under the reception tent and the show went on! I mean that’s what it’s all about anyways, at the end you are married!! Rain, sleet, snow or tornado. So, the rain kinda put the brakes on our grand plans to head out in the fields but we made it work in the barn for photos and turned out so many pictures in such a small area so it’s a win in our book! Now, at our meeting before the wedding Heather insisted they would be doing a non-traditional dance and Jerry gave a firm “no”. BUT Heather got what she wanted(okay and me too!) and they performed the BEST first dance I have ever seen!!! Complete with Kung-Fu fighting, ride the pony and a little booty slap everyone was laughing and it was one for the books!
Now, it just kept raining the whole time but I knew I had to get some kind of photo under this arbor that Jerry had made for their day! We literally set it up, had them run out for a photo and that was it. After Heather saw it and told me she was actually kind of glad it rained, I couldn’t have asked for anything better!
