In daylights, in sunsets
In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, a year in the life
January 7, 2014 at 11:16 a.m. I met the littlest love of my life, Pierson Kane.
Weighing in at 8.11# and measuring 19.5″, he was pretty much a replica of his big brother, Maverick Kai.
He was born in the Polar Vortex. It was 22* outside the morning I walked into the hospital.
I had been having contractions the whole day before but at 3:30 a.m. I knew it was it. I got up, sat in a warm bath, shaved my legs, did my hair and makeup and woke up my husband. We were going to be induced that morning anyways so Maverick was already at Grandma’s house. Got to the hospital about 5:30 and the check-in was taking their time and commented that I was there early(induction was at 8:30) and Kenny had to tell her “NO! She’s in labor now!” It was a quick few hours with family in the halls, and our sweet P made his debut.
Since the day we found out about him, he’s truly been such an easy babe. He is laid back and smiles ALOT. He has happy eyes I say. You can tell when he’s smiling that he truly is happy. He loves his brother Maverick and his dog Maui. While it took him awhile to catch onto the whole eating thing, he is now a garbage disposal and will try anything. In 3 weeks he will take his first flight and vacation, to Walt Disney World(pray for us!!)!
My sweet P, Shoogie Bear, Shoog, and PK: I never knew my heart was missing you.
I would have sworn it was full with your brother but you have undoubtedly made your way in. Carved out a piece in our lives meant only for you.
You are happy all the time. You give the BEST hugs, like you’re trying to become the one you’re hugging.
You are headstrong, finding a way to do something regardless of the barriers.
I hope this foreshadows the kind of boy, child, man, husband, father, uncle, etc you will be.
I have LOVED every second of being your momma, even the dirty and sleep deprived ones.
You are my last baby and because of that I have held onto each “first” a little longer, stopped to enjoy them and not just take a picture of them.
Here’s to you and all the next year brings!!!
xx, Momma
