Sunday was the perfect day for a wedding at Portsmouth Woman’s Club. We have been experiencing brutal heat in the Hampton Roads area the past two weeks, which forced Chris and Brittani to move their ceremony inside versus the lawn. I feel like the theme of their day was “be flexible”! These two were so ready to just get married that they were flexible with everything!

I showed up to a room full of girls finishing hair and makeup and sipping mimosas! SO much laughter and a few tears were already happening but it wasn’t until Brittani got in her dress and held Karley(her daughter’s!) hand that all the tears flowed. Their bond is so strong and so special, it was sweet to watch Karley tear up seeing her mom like a princess. We were able to do all the bridal party portraits (separately) before the ceremony when the sun was just shining so bright and happy! 

Originally, they planned not to have a first look and save all their portraits for after the ceremony which would have been great timing lighting wise! About 20 minutes before the ceremony, my phone alerted me would should get heavy downpours in 50 minutes, RIGHT when we should be outside for family formals. This is a day when it’s SO incredibly a MUST to have a wonderful vendor team! Ashley with Jamie Leigh was quick to agree holding the ceremony for 15 minutes so we were able to do a first look, bridal party AND Mr & Mrs. pictures before the ceremony. All in beautiful soft light since a storm was within view!!  

When the ceremony ended, it was sprinkling outside (enough to not do portraits). The rain quickly subsided and brought a little cooler temperatures so guests could enjoy the back deck of the venue! The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth is such a great venue for those who want versatility in a venue, being able to do it all in once space, and LOTS of space for a good rain plan! 

With good food, great bartenders and doughnuts(!!!) for dessert this was every part the wedding this family deserved!!
