Beauty Review

I have this super weird obsession with teeth. I LOVE pretty teeth, white ones that have nice shapes. I covet them!! I don’t have straight teeth and just can’t justify getting braces at this point in my life. BUT I can work on the whitening of them! I’ve tried literally every whitening toothpaste and strip. My teeth became overly sensitive during both pregnancies so I can’t use strips daily. I can use them about once a week and that’s it. A Facebook friend of mine shared her way to keep her teeth white naturally so I had to try it! This isn’t a new technique for me, I’ve been doing it about two years now but I wanted to share! I switched to a new dentist last year and both the hygienist and dentist remarked on how white my teeth were consistently. The hygienist asked what I did and knew it wasn’t just strips because my back teeth were nice too (she said so!) when I mentioned this trick, she said she would try but had never heard of it!

There is literally no side effect to this! No sensitivity, no stained anything, not expensive and not difficult!

I use activated charcoal to clean my teeth! (Disclaimer: it must be ACTIVATED, not charcoal you use in your grill!!!) I purchased the caps from my local vitamin store but you can snag on Amazon too(I’ve grabbed them from there too)! I break open a capsule into a tiny Tupperware container, use just enough water to make a paste and wipe it on all my teeth. I let it sit as long as I can (try and do my makeup during this!) then brush like normal. I do have to rinse extra because it can settle in between my teeth but it’s no big! The powder can be messy but it rinses off everything! It won’t stain your sinks or tubs or wherever you brush! The added perk is charcoal absorbs anything it touches so getting some of that paste on your tongue helps with bad breath! My nearly four year old likes to use this too and it’s completely safe.

If you have never heard of activated charcoal, I highly recommend you add it to your medicine cabinet! We travel with it in case of upset tummies. If you have pets, it can help with poison issues. Lots and lots of benefits but if you’re nervous PLEASE ask your doctor! Here’s a great over view of it: http://wellnessmama.com/247/activated-charcoal/
Happy brushing!!

    Awesome. Thanks! !

I have been wanting to try this. Is it ok to swallow? Or should you just spit it out before you brush it off?

  5. erikamills says:

I don’t swallow it so not sure, definitely want to spit because it’s pulling junk from your mouth! Swallow small amount shouldn’t be harmful but best to check with your doc!
