There is something about a light misty rain that could make anywhere seem romantic, but a light misty rain in the gorgeous Maymont Estate in Richmond? It wasn’t just romantic, it was magical! Kristen & Marques are two of the sweetest people I’ve met. I knew Kristen back in high school and saw her again last year Melissa & Mark’s wedding at Virginia Tech! Melissa and Kristen were talking shortly after she got engaged and Melissa told her she HAD to contact me. I am so thankful for brides who not only loved their experience with me so much to let me know, but to encourage their friends to chat with me too! That right there means the world. Kristen and Marques met online and set their blind date up at a local sports bar. The rest as they say is just history. Their engagement story is just another magic moment in their relationship. It was the first week of school and like most teachers, Kristen’s mind was a million other places. She was going to a football game and found out it wasn’t a home game but a visitors. She calls and tells Marques to hurry up and be ready. As she walks up to the front door there is a final exam with questions she has to answer. Kristen walks in and sees the stairs are covered in roses, along with a new question on each step. Upstairs, the question on the door asked “Which name has a better RING to it?” and “marry me” spelled out in rose petals! She said she just never expected it because they are not very romantic or grandeur in their gestures. After saying yes she rushed him out the door to the game too! 😉 They met me about halfway at the beautiful Maymont Estate and we pretty much had the grounds to ourselves thanks to the weatherman getting his forecast wrong (aka there was no chance of rain!) but it worked out best for us! I cannot wait for their Stevenson Ridge wedding next year!
