I love doing styled shoots with my friend Misty of Misty Saves the Day! I’m a huge advocate of doing them for yourself, for good reason and with good heart so when I come to her with an idea she knows I mean business!! Styled shoots are quite the time (and financial!!) investment, so if you’re considering one you should read my more in depth thoughts on it!

I make it no secret I am very motivated, inspired, in awe of my grandparents marriage. Both sets of my grandparents married young (probably like a lot of ours honestly!), went through incredible changes in society and culture, and have wonderful stories to tell. My mom’s parents, my Oma and Opa met when they didn’t speak each others language and served each other until he passed in 2009. My dad’s parents, my Grams and Gramps, live in rural Minnesota and recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary!! I wanted to tie all these elements into a shoot and quite honestly design what my dream color scape would be!

We did the shoot at the gorgeous Norfolk Botanical Gardens (I love outdoor weddings at gardens, vineyards and estates!!) and incorporated blues, watercolors, golds, and feminine touches! The vendor team for this shoot was incredible, literally staying on site and holding up that AMAZING backdrop Katherine made!! We had unusually cold and windy weather this day for September!
