Sea Siren Styled Shoot

Uncategorized

Sometimes I get these little ideas in my head and sit on them. This shoot was definitely that. I had been dreaming up this shoot for about 9 months before I talked to Misty about it. I actually had tried to get it going over the summer but a few too many things came up and it got pushed to the back burner. When I casually mentioned it to her, while we were planning our friends baby shower, she was so game. Misty instantly loved the idea and started working on it ASAP, like that day. She completely took this idea I had and ran with it, I am so grateful to her. This shoot all started from my Starbucks coffee cup. They released a Sea Siren line about a year ago and I instantly scooped up mugs and travel cups. I love the ocean but don’t much gravitate towards the bright colors. I wanted to do a sexy shoot, challenge what people thought of as “pretty”. When Palette of Petals heard the pitch they were excited! These women are absolutely incredible and truly were so excited for it too. They stayed the whole shoot and quickly worked to rearrange stuff. Even scooping buckets of water from the ocean to wet our sea kelp down 😉 My whole plan for this shoot was the woman as the centerpiece. I wanted HER to be the seductress and the one who told the story. She wasn’t swept off her feet by him, she wanted it and got it. I loved that idea of it being about HER.

This shoot checked two things off my bucket list: doing a styled shoot and GETTING MY WORK IN PRINT! Yes, I completely cried when I got the email from Vow Bride. I just can’t even tell you what it meant to me! I just have to say there is no way this would happen if not for the amazing vendor team. These people worked in the freezing cold (it was seriously in the 20’s with wind chill this day!) and quickly to provide everything for it. I am so proud of this talented team and the beauty we turned out!
