There are so many aspects I love about a wedding day and this Woman’s Club of Portsmouth wedding added so many new favorites to that list. Blake & Megan are two souls who have been SUCH a joy to get to know throughout this whole process. They have been relaxed and excited, trusting and so thoughtful: it made me so ready for their day!! After their engagement session it was a no brainer taking portraits of these two would be EASY for me.
We started the day at the venue, where I walked in a room to so many girls!! It was full of her bridesmaids and family and close friends and there sat Meg, calm and cool and smiling. She had every reason to be nervous and yet she wasn’t. She said she was “just ready”. Across the hall Blake played poker with his guys and made it a point to ask me what time he needed to be ready, he too was “just ready”. I couldn’t argue with that!!
After getting ready, these two chose to do a first look so we could knock out portraits before the ceremony and spend more time with just them after! I love being able to do this if you’re on a strict hour for cocktail hour, a first look affords you the time to do family portraits and plenty of time with Mr & Mrs! Blake couldn’t hold it in seeing Meg in all her beauty! She looked incredible in her mermaid gown, perfect updo and flawless makeup! After such a sweet ceremony, we went back out for portraits with the most beautiful Rolls Royce I have ever seen!! Blake was giddy, it’s his favorite car and he had told me it was a must for pictures!
I cannot talk about this wedding without talking about the incredible reception!! I know when Roger is DJing it’s always going to be fun, but this party was another level. From the first song to the get away, it stayed packed. At one point I thought they would quite literally bring the house down!! I’m talking we were holding our gear to keep it from falling over from all the dancing!! All those friends stayed until the very end (not the norm on a Sunday for sure!) and it was just another testament to the kind of people Blake & Meg are!
I’m wishing you both the best of times in Key West!!! Watch a sunset with a miami vice for me!!
Thanks to the fabulous team who made this day so perfect!
